Covid-19 situation update
Dear Customers,
Since our last communication in mid-March the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation has evolved very rapidly, as has government policy and guidance. Arjowiggins is operating according to Government guidelines applicable to our mill locations. At the end of March, the Scottish Government issued the following guidelines for businesses in Scotland:
Be Responsible
In this public health crisis it is vital that ALL businesses act responsibly and align fully with the social distancing measures introduced to protect the nation’s heath, well-being and economic future.
As such we would advise all business premises, sites and attractions to close now unless:
- essential to the health and welfare of the country during this crisis; or
- supporting essential services; or
- capable of working in a way which is fully consistent with established social distancing advice; or
- health and safety or other considerations apply [requiring] a facility to continue to operate for a specific period of time for a safe shutdown process to be completed.
We have stated previously that as well as keeping our employees safe and healthy and being socially responsible, it is essential that we minimise the impact on our customers. However, to answer the Scottish Government’s call for businesses to act responsibly we have decided a managed and controlled shutdown in order to have Stoneywood mill fully closed, which became effective on April 5th. A scheduled maintenance shut was already planned for this date and will now be an extended shut and we hope to restart as soon as possible, once Scottish Government guidelines allow.
As you know, we hold a large stock of finished goods in our two European warehouses which remain operational for stock orders which should ensure that impact on our customers is minimised. Our Customer Service and Sales teams remain at your disposal to answer immediate queries and to plan future deliveries.
